Because conventional industrial growth brings environmental devastation by diminishing natural resources, the ICEC Corporate Engagement Initiative promotes dialogue among business leaders to increase commitment to the ecological civilization. The United States is the world’s largest consumer and corporate engagement is crucial to bring about a shift toward sustainable economy. In the dialogue among business leaders, the Corporate Engagement Initiative seeks to discover already existing ethical discourse about corporate aims and structures and to highlight sustainable business models and business practices, as well as legislative strategies.

Providing the groundwork for this discourse, the Initiative collects the most pertinent secular and religious resources in the intersection of ethics, business, and ecology. Building upon this research, the Initiative is establishing a working group that brings together business leaders to share and promote their perspectives and expertise on ethical corporate governance. In this endeavor, the ICEC Corporate Engagement Initiative seeks to collaborate with other organizations and networks sharing similar goals.

Beginning with outreach to green business leaders in preparation for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) in June 2012, the ICEC Corporate Engagement Initiative, in this way, will raise ethical awareness around UN sustainable development efforts.

The collected resources are compiled into the following six categories:

General Resources

UN Resources

Religious Resources

Business Organizations for Sustainability
